Aye thank ye. -she too rises and folds up her blanket putting them in the saddle bag and pulls out a pouch of jerky and hands it to Kiliyen with a canteen of water- that be fer ye, I brought me one too. -she says and pulls out another pouch of jerky and starts eating it and a second canteen to drink from-

*Is kicked in the ribs while its eyes were on Maddy, but it instantly turns and snaps at the offending foot, giving his leg several sharp holes for his trouble before scrambling to safety. It growls at both of them but doesn't argue the refusal*

*Jumps, startled by the creature's swiftness, not even having a chance to dodge. He frowns at his leg, then glares at the creature again. Unwilling to ask if the bite will do anything, he turns away and sits to chew on his jerky. Belatedly he looks at Maddy* Thank you for the breakfast. That was very thoughtful and good foresight.

*Maddy spots the creature a bit ahead, once again sitting in the branches, waiting. When she spots it, it flies deeper into the woods*
*This continues until late afternoon. (Unless you two want to insert something.) The first indication they come across is the remnants of a cobbled path, almost invisible as it is covered with moss, and small weeds struggling to grow between the stones*
*Eventually, as they follow this path, they catch up with Scum-Monkey sitting on the ruined wall of what was once a medium sized castle*

*Much of the castle is still standing, but it is clear that it suffered damage in an assault, damage which was never repaired. The ruined wall where Scum-Monkey sits would be passable for the humans, but not the horses without risking broken legs*

*Seeing they are ready, he turns and disappears within*
*As you pass through the rubble, to the right can be seen a massive blockade of piled furniture and miscellaneous items barring two massive doors in the front of the castle. It will be evident to both that the last days of this castle were spent in a defense that didn't hold.*
*Other than the ruins, however, there is little evidence of the people who won or lost. The place is noticeably clean, no skeletons, no cobwebs. All that is moveable in this room seems to have been placed at the front doors.*

*Disappears through the doorway across the empty hall. When they follow, he is nowhere to be seen. The passageway they find themselves in is less clean, but still no sign of cobwebs. It stretches on to either side of them, left or right*
*To the right the hallway ends more quickly, having one door and a dead end. To the left, Several more doors, and a set of stairs going down*

*At this point on the stairs, there is some light available through narrow slitted windows available on one side. The light fades as the stair spirals away, growing brighter once more as it comes around once more to another slitted window*
*And reason Maddy has to be nervous, for around a bend a great serpent is ascending, its forked tongue flicking out to sense those before it. Raising itself up, it's forward portion is just above Kiliyen's head, looking down at them*
*The stairs are narrow, forcing Kiliyen and Maddy to walk one behind the other, Maddy behind since she followed*

*The sword comes free of its scabbard in a single smooth motion and Kiliyen lunges forward with an upward thrust, trying to slide the sword between the scales of its belly to pierce the wyrm beneath*

*The sword slides in as intended, being driven deeper by the great beast's forward lunge as it attacks. The sword, embedded in the wyrm, is wrenched out of Kiliyen's hand as it snakes its head around him, drawing him into a coil*

*Kiliyen's swearing and grunting both work to empty his lungs and he finds it impossible to breathe as the snake constricts.*
*Due to her dodging, Maddy's thrust at the snake's throat fails to pierce, grating and sliding against the tough scales. She can, however, see a satisfying flow of blood from the previous wound*
*Having missed its first strike, the snake rears up once more, its head weaving side to side as it studies Maddy for another strike*

*Grits his teeth, alarmed by the lack of breath, knowing he is in serious trouble, but not ready to give up. Using his left hand, he draws his dagger. With the arm largely pinned to his side, there is little he can do with it, but he works the dagger in his hand and slides it between the scales, giving the snake a good stab.*

*Maddy's lunge is true and the sword goes home. Having taken her eyes off of the head, however, the snake strikes, biting her on the shoulder and holding*
*Kiliyen feels another rib give way as the snake flexes in response to having prey in its mouth. The snake, however, is somewhat confused, having two prey to deal with.*
*The jaws on Maddy's shoulder work to reposition her*

*The snake recoils from Maddy's bashing and Kiliyen's pricking, deciding that this meal is becoming too costly*
*Dropping Maddy, it turns to flee, doubling back on itself to go back down the stairs, rather over top of the unfortunate Kiliyen.*
*Maddy will find her shoulder is pierced on both sides, the wounds somewhat torn from the snake trying to reposition her for swallowing.*

*Gasps for air, clinging to his dagger so he doesn't lose it too. Struggles beneath the snake, trying to make sure it doesn't grab him again, and especially trying to keep its weight off of his ribs*
*When its gone, he looks for Maddy and starts moving towards her* Maddy? Are you all right? *Sees her shoulder and frowns, coming close now to inspect the wounds*
