When Corbin was seven years old he witnessed the murder of his da, Jarred Ramsay. Just before his death, Jarred gave Corbin his glaive, a highly powerful weapon crafted for him by Lord Talon of Altreas. It was for this weapon that he was

murdered, and it was to keep it out of their hands that he became desperate enough to summon his young son to his dungeon cell. There, he instructed Corbin in its use and powers.

Hiding behind his hands, (and therefore invisible), Corbin was present when Jarred was murdered. Alone and terrified, Corbin retrieved a pendant from around his father's neck, hoping it held some kind of helpful magic. Before he could discern its use, others entered the cell and Corbin fled for home via magic. As bidden, he kept the glaive hidden, stashing it deep within Castle Eidolon - in a hiding place which he believed no one would find. And there it has remained ever since.

Soon after, Draegon captured Jarred's murderer, Cyril Valkin, and he not only allowed Corbin to vent his fury on the man, he encouraged it. It was his hope to unlock the vast potential of Corbin's magic, to train him to apply it in ways other than what he considered frivolous fantasies. Angry and inexperienced, Corbin was all too willing and he accidentally 'popped' Cyril, killing him, thus ending the lesson.
